‘Museu Virtual dos Embutidos da Madeira’ (Madeira´s virtual wood inlay artefact Museum)
This project arises after the publication of the two works ‘Os Grandes Mestres Marceneiros- Embutidores da Ilha da Madeira- Escola Industrial António de Augusto Aguiar’, edited in 2021 and 2022, by our Association: Boa Nova Folklore and Ethnographic Group and authored by Danilo José Fernandes. There are editions from the collection ‘O Trilho’, from the Núcleo Museológico de “Arte Popular’ (Museum Centre of “Popular art”), Caderno (Notebook) Nº 8 and Caderno (Notebook) Nº 8, volume II After investigating and patenting the inlay work and to biograph their authors, Master Carpenters, and Inlayers of Madeira Island, arose the opportunity to create the ‘Museu Virtual dos Embutidos da Madeira’ (Madeira´s virtual wood inlay artefact Museum). The goal of this initiative is to give visibility to these works of art making them accessible to the general audience, because many of these artefacts belong to the collections of the authors’ families, of the museums, of the collectors or art lovers.
Another aim lies in the possibility of finding other masterpieces and descendants of these great craftsmen, due to the reach that this project will have in the four corners of the world.
