About

The MUvEMMA project, ‘Museu Virtual dos Embutidos da Madeira’ (Madeira´s virtual wood inlay artefact Museum), is an initiative of the Boa Nova Folklore and Ethnographic Group Association, that exhibits furniture pieces and related items, crafted by various inlay masters made in Madeira as from the 19th century. The pieces are organized in three different areas, such as, tables, boxes, and other pieces, as well as a collection and heritage areas.

The pieces in exhibition belong to different collectors and display a diverse range of decorative symbols, from classic geometrical patterns to compositions inspired by the endemic and indigenous flora of Madeira and iconic representations of the architectural and ethnographic heritage of Madeira.

The goal of the virtual museum is to provide users with an immersive and educational experience, through detailed three-dimensional visualization, where each visitor will be able to enjoy the different characteristics of each piece as if they were really there.

The museum has a multidisciplinary team, that intends to provide specialized information, in materials and woods, flora species and Madeira´s cultural heritage, that are displayed in each of the designed motifs.
